”From model to product: two words in between which there is a lot of space”, says industrial designer Kitta Perttula of the commercialization process of the SaSa Bucket Saddle.
Perttula’s SaSa Bucket Saddle is a helpful tool for working at low heights. The combination of a bucket and a seat is a handy tool for gardening, berry picking, renovations and eg. ice fishing. SaSa is manufactured and marketed by Oy Plastex Ab, and the product is well on its way into international markets as well.
SaSa was created as Perttula’s thesis work for the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Perttula herself mentions that the design was affected by her own experiences from strawberry picking and its difficult ergonomical aspects.
“Without Tuli, our product would probably never had advanced into actual production. Tuli helped us especially in opening the right doors; it was easier to get into talks with various companies with the aid of an experienced consultant.”
