The amount of Tuli funding can be 55.000 euros in total, per one research-based invention or idea. Tuli funding can be applied by researchers and research groups, not by companies.
The funding process consists of three phases: initial evaluation, evaluation and refinement.
In the initial evaluation phase, various expert services can be provided in order to evaluate the initial commercial potential of an idea. The evaluation can include e.g. screening of possible markets, competitors and partners or mapping the patent field. These evaluations act as the groundwork for mapping the idea’s initial commercial potential for possible further evaluations.
The amount of funding for the initial evaluation phase can be up to 5 000 euros and it can be granted by a Tuli contact person.
In the actual evaluation phase, the idea is further examined from a commercialization viewpoint. The aim is to outline and develop a commercialization path for the idea and open up new prospects for turning the idea into a product or service. Services and partners provided by Tuli add value and promote the growth of the idea’s commercial potential. It also removes obstacles from the path to success. Such services can consist of e.g. finding partners, conducting more extensive market analyses, developing business and funding plans and evaluating the technological aspects and competitive advantages of the idea.
The amount of funding for the evaluation phase can be up to 20.000 euros, granted by the Tuli project group.
In the refinement phase, challenges and possible bottlenecks in the way of commercialization can be solved in the areas of product development and testing. The aim of the phase is to provide the idea with its own capable wings and set the project on its way towards success. The actions in the refinement phase can be e.g. prototype development, verification of technical functionality and profitability evaluations. With these actions, the idea’s commercial potential is verified and a plan for advancing and realizing the actual commercialization of the idea can be defined.
The amount of funding for the refinement phase can be up to 30.000 euro, granted by the Tuli project group.
